|Summary||0000929: FeatureWish: Chatting while loading|
|Description||If the game doesn't start immediately the players don't know what's going on. For example someone could have timed out, or someone joined the last second - or someone is loading the object package.|
This is unclear, and creates confusion. Ingame when the game starts a quick discussion is not easily possible, cause there will be a lot of log messages ("Player ala joined"), and the game will start anyway. So there is no reorganization possible without problems. (for example if I take time, to talk about my team having a player less, I risk even further disadvantage if my opponents won't want to abort).

|Would be a nice thing to have, but we'll have to move loading to a background thread before this is possible because otherwise the GUI will be unresponsive.|
|Last time I asked I got a: Too much restructuring needed for such a small thing.|

Not necessarily - a semi-responsive GUI can be had by spinning the event loop every so often. Even a chat that only works after the loading is done and only waiting remains could solve the stated usecase.
I remember loading CR games with ~6 people and 5/6 people finished loading and were in the paused ingame scenario while we were able to chat there until the one guy who was still loading finished loading. But normally you stay in the loading screen where you see that "Waiting for other Players" box. Can someone explain that? Maybe I mix something up there.
Btw. wouldn't chatting WHILE loading slow down the loading? Isn't it better to minimize the loading times?
Also, if we place the tips (0001491) above the loading bar and loading title, we may have enough stuff in the loading screen to look at.
