Summary0000373: Title animation for the clonk
DescriptionIt would be great to have a title-animation for the clonk so that he doesn't stand like a Ampelmännchen when his title is displayed (see here ). If it is not possible yet to define an animation (with length = 1) for the title image, it needs to be implemented first of course. In that case, the category of this report should be "Engine - Graphics".

Randrian (developer)

Well, we could use the "inside" animation, which is displayed when the clonk is inside a building.

Newton (administrator)

So it is possible to define one? Yeah, why not. An own animation can always be done later or not at all if "inside" looks good enough.

bump. So what's the problem here exactly? Is it that with meshes, it is currently not possible to define an animation that is used for the title?

Randrian (developer)

Is it possible yet? I don't know how. Perhaps ck has to say something about this.

Clonk-Karl (administrator)

It's not possible currently.

How about using an animation called "Picture" as the title animation (or rather the first keyframe of it) if it's present, and, if not, do what we currently do?

Randrian (developer)

Hmm... yes. But why not use a property for that? But probably the display for definitions isn't changed a lot...

Ringwaul (developer)

I made a very basic 'idle' pose for the clonk for portrait files, which is saved in the clonk's .blend file. Might look better than the clonk seemingly leaning against a wall.

Looks as such:

Clonk-Karl (administrator)

Sure, this could also make use of a property.

Newton (administrator)

Then probably every object with a mesh+animation would have to define that. If it is possible to define a default animation for objects with meshes, it could be set to an animation named "Picture". (If it doesn't exist, it is shown without normally without an animation.)

Objects that for some reason want to do some fancy picture-manipulation can then redefine that property.

Maikel (developer)

I rebumped this bug, because for example the NPC interaction HUD element still looks very odd with the clonk in it.

Time for a fix!

Clonk-Karl (administrator)

Hm. How about a PictureAnimation property that specifies an animation to be used for the picture?

I don't know if properties can be changed for overlays (or for GUI dialogs) -- if not one could only set this in the definition proplist. Can one create a custom proplist with the original definition as prototype and change things like PictureTransformation when displaying a picture in an overlay/GUI?
