Any suggestions on how to solve this? Since there are other forms of color blindness than red-green, I doubt we can find any two nice colours that everyone in the world can distinguish ;)
On top of that, we'd need to adhere to some universal colour code for in/out. It's no use if one line is blazing orange and the other deep purple if no one knows which line is which.
It's possible to show a little icon on the picture. You won't be able to see the line's state without picking up the line kit though. Also, these icons are error-prone, too. My first idea would be "upwards arrow" for "input" and "downwards arrow" for "output". But is that universally understandable (the answer is often 'no')?
I did not propose to cover 'all' forms of color blindness. Just red and green, it is by far the most common. A quick look up revealed that Wikipedia lists it with 9% of the male population (it drops to 5% with females included, but lets face it - our player base is male).
I agree with the universal color code proposal, we probably don't need any fancy items. Just picking one of the two colors differently will solve this.
I don't know what would be best, maybe yellow and green or blue and green. I'll ask K-Pone for an opinion.
Fuuuuuuuu, I hate those "Your session has expired and I won't recover what you've written" types of software...
Anyway, best is if you choose colors with a high contrast that can be easily distinguished by colorblind people. I'll attach an image showing colors I can easily distinguish and which I cannot.
Uhm. I don't really understand that image. :D
Can't you just give two colours that are ok and aren't horrible for in/out colours!
|#EE6600 and #668822 should work. The green color is very light and the red color is rather dark. That can be distinguished by colorblind people as well.|
Hi! There's been a check-in that references this bug. For more information you can visit the repository browser at this address:
Changeset 042ee8b by Clonkonaut <Armag3ddon@web.de>
Changed the colours of the drain and source pipes to accommodate for people with red-green color blindness (0001757).
The colours have been suggested by K-Pone.
